What is The Heart Place?
The Heart Place is our weekly dinner with “the family.” We began in 2021 with the idea that community is an area where poverty has crept in. We thought: “If we believe,” and we do, that “all poverty is a result of broken relationship, then healing family relationship is the answer”.
The Heart Place is a “family” of people from all walks of life. We are not a church, as some are not ready to take that step, though we are God-centered and encourage getting plugged in to a local church. We are not a substance abuse support group, for many in our family have never been challenged like that, yet all of us have had our lives touched in some way by that disease and so it is part of our "table talk" at times.
We always make room for struggles, but never give any place for judgment.
There have been many good things that have happened around the table. Jobs and homes opened up, friendships bonded, hearts healed, loneliness banished, opportunities springing up.
The best thing that will ever happen to you will be a somebody not a something.
When just a few get together and say: "God, we want to help, but we're not always sure how. We want to be available, but we're not always sure where. We don't have all the answers, and there are hardly ever enough resources, but together, in you Father, we have it all." Those few can be the catalyst for real change in a community.
We hope to see you some night. The Heart Place has a seat at the table for you.
Come join us!
